Walking with Roshy

Stand up to Cancer Walkies Challenge 2023 - Day Twelve

3.78 miles walked today

Dodging the Windy Weather

The weather was a real mix today. We managed to get out for a quick walk at lunch time. I walk the dogs on average about 3 times a day in the week and tend to do longer walks at the weekend. I do not count the lunchtime walks to the challenge total as they are not long enough to really count.

As the afternoon progressed, I kept an eye on the weather, the wind was blowing quite fierece and at one point I am sure I heard the rumbles of Thunder. I began to wonder if our evening walk was going to be a very quick few circuits of the local roads to reach 2 miles and then get in out of the rain.

Thankfully the rain held off and we headed for the rugby club field and found we had the place to ourselves.

Roshy had a good run about. We had a few games of fetch and he was very happy to be out in the fresh air. We then did some work on his recall, putting him in a stay and then leaving hime with a long distance between us. He did really well and I was very proud of him. I then switched to doing shorted distances but trying to get him to stop by my side in the healwork position. He did his best but he runs so fast that he cannot stop in time. I will keep working on this with him.
